About Melani
I’m Melani Ward, and I didn’t start my first business when I was 19. Nor did I sell it to Google for millions of dollars. I am not an award-winning violinist and I do not speak fifty languages, three of which are all but extinct. I am not the walrus, coo-coo-ca-choo.
I also do marketing all wrong.
I started my first solo business five years ago and I was really bad at it. I didn’t make any money at all the first year and made so little the next year that I might have just found some change in my sofa cushions.
The problem was that I couldn’t seem to generate any new clients – which was strange. Because with that first business, I did marketing exactly right.
I read all the books. I learned from all the marketing experts out there calling themselves “gurus” and selling very expensive do-it-yourself training packages. I did every single thing they told me to do, exactly the way they told me to do it. I didn’t listen to my gut and I absolutely didn’t try any of the crazy ideas that were ricocheting around in my brain saying, “Hey, this would work even better.”
Until one day I gave in. I listened to my gut and tried one of the crazy ideas.
And it worked.
I tried another. And another. Pretty soon, the business that had been a complete failure while I was doing all the right marketing techniques was earning well over six figures in a year. It still is today.
The right marketing doesn’t work for me. I’m betting it hasn’t been working for you either. Which is why my business now revolves around creating crazy, unconventional, un-boring, non-painful, suspiciously fun-sounding marketing ideas for women entrepreneurs who are as frustrated with the “right” marketing as I was a few years ago.
The right marketing didn’t work for me. If it hasn’t been working for you, then you should come try my brand of marketing. My clients never say I do marketing the “right” way.
The word “awesome” is bandied around quite a lot though. “Fun.” “Easy.” “Profitable.” “Insightful.” “Intuitive.” “Energizing.” “Honest.” “Master strategist.” “The best of the best.” “6-figure success.” are a few of the things people have said about working with me.
I may never do marketing “right”. As long as I can do it all those other ways, though, I’ll resign myself to that affliction – if, of course, my clients can resign themselves to fun and profit. Which it seems they can.
If you think you could resign yourself to the sad, extremely profitable fate that my clients have, drop me a line. I’ll be glad to demonstrate just how perfect for your business “wrong” marketing can be.
